How are we different?
At Għum u Għin, we firmly believe that swimming should be accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints. By utilising our profits to provide free swimming lessons to individuals in social welfare, we aim to break down barriers, foster inclusion, and empower individuals to enjoy the numerous benefits of swimming.
Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive community, one stroke at a time.
Here's an overview of how our voluntary swimming club operates and makes a positive impact:
-
Profits for a Purpose: Unlike conventional swimming clubs, our primary focus is not financial gain. Instead, we prioritise the well-being and inclusion of all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. We allocate approximately 41.32% of our total weekly profit (from both individual and group sessions) for free swimming lessons. This percentage reflects the proportion of the combined profits that is allocated to cover the costs of 10 free individual swimming lessons per week.
-
Expert Instruction: At our club, we pride ourselves on having a team of swimming instructors whose qualifications and experience are unparalleled in the field. Their passion for teaching swimming transcends mere instruction; it involves nurturing a profound appreciation for the sport. Leading our team is our founder, Emma Tanti, whose credentials extend beyond the realm of swimming. She is not only a certified Swimming Teacher and Coach but also an accomplished Social Worker. Emma’s academic journey didn't stop there; she further augmented her expertise by attaining a Masters in Human Rights Law & Practice. This unique blend of skills ensures a holistic approach to teaching, guaranteeing that every individual, irrespective of their personal background, is provided with swimming lessons that are not only of high quality but are also customized to meet their specific needs.
-
Collaboration with Social Welfare Providers: We establish partnerships with social welfare organisations and service providers in our community. These trusted entities help us identify individuals who would benefit the most from free swimming lessons. They work closely with us to ensure that those in genuine need receive the opportunity to learn how to swim.
-
Accessible Enrolment Process: We have streamlined the enrolment process for individuals in social welfare. Through collaboration with our partner organisations, we simplify the registration process and eliminate any financial barriers, allowing participants to join our swimming program without worrying about fees or expenses.
-
Personalised Support: Each participant in our free swimming lesson program receives personalised attention and support from our dedicated instructors. We understand that everyone has unique needs and goals, and we strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can learn and progress at their own pace.
-
Long-Term Impact: By providing free swimming lessons, we aim to instil not just the ability to swim but also a sense of confidence, self-esteem, and improved overall well-being. Swimming is not only a life-saving skill but also an activity that promotes physical fitness, mental health, and social integration.
-
Transparency and Accountability: We maintain complete transparency regarding the allocation of our profits and the impact generated through our free swimming lesson program. We regularly update our members, sponsors, and the wider community about our achievements, successes, and the number of individuals we have reached and supported.
Join us in making a difference. Whether you become a member, sponsor, or supporter, your involvement contributes directly to transforming lives through the joy of swimming.
